Quick tips to increase ecommerce sales

Running an ecommerce store is so much fun and exciting.

But is it, though?

It is! But there are some challenges along the way. And one of the biggest challenges? Figuring out how to boost your sales without spending your whole budget. So, is there some secret recipe to increase ecommerce sales?

Increase ecommerce sales with these tips (or at least try)

Optimize your product pages

Your product pages are the heart of your online store. If they’re not optimized, you could be missing out on sales. And you don’t want that.

  • Do a professional photoshoot and make awesome photos that showcase your products from multiple angles. Don’t forget that shoppers can’t touch or feel the products.
  • Write product descriptions that describe the product and highlight its benefits. Use words that your target audience can easily understand, and avoid complicated or AI-generated copies.
  • Display customer reviews on your product pages. Customers pay attention to the opinions of others, and positive reviews can tip the scales in your favor.

Make the checkout process easy

A complicated checkout process is one of the main reasons for cart abandonment. That and hidden costs. To keep customers from bailing at the last minute, simplify it as much as you can.

  • The fewer clicks, the better. Aim to make checkout as quick and easy as possible.
  • Allow customers to check out as guests. Not everyone wants to create an account to make a purchase.
  • Offer a variety of payment methods.

A bad checkout experience is just one thing that can turn customers away. Take a look at other issues that might do the same.

Don’t forget about email marketing

Email marketing is still one of the most effective ways to increase ecommerce sales. Make the most of it!

  • Send reminders to customers who left items in their carts. Be gentle, add a slight discount, and encourage them to complete their purchase.
  • Use data and insights to send personalized emails based on past purchases or browsing behavior.
  • If you have an email list, keep your audience engaged with regular newsletters that offer valuable content, promotions, and updates.

Social proof hits hard

Social proof is an excellent tool for giving a little push to potential customers to make a purchase.

  • Feature testimonials from satisfied customers on your homepage or product pages. Or both.
  • Give UGC content a chance. Encourage customers to share photos or videos of your products in use.
  • Display security seals, awards, or certifications to build trust with new visitors.

Free shipping, of course

Free shipping is still a significant incentive for online shoppers. So, if possible, offer free shipping to increase ecommerce sales. You can either absorb the cost, set a minimum order value, or include it in your product pricing strategy.

If offering free shipping across the board isn’t feasible, then consider offering it as a promotion during peak shopping periods like BFCM or for first-time customers.

Improve mobile experience

More and more people are shopping on their phones, so a mobile-friendly website is necessary so:

  • Make sure your website looks great and works well on all devices, from desktops to smartphones.
  • A slow website can drive customers away. To improve speed, optimize images, reduce redirects, and leverage browser caching.
  • Simplify your menu and make sure buttons are large enough to tap easily on a small screen.

Pay attention to SEO

Although it can’t be done fast, and you see results later, SEO is important for driving organic traffic to your site and increasing sales. By optimizing your site for search engines, you can attract more visitors who are already looking for products like yours. So, focus on this:

  • Use tools like Google Keyword Planner or Semrush to find the terms your potential customers seek.
  • Optimize your product titles, descriptions, and meta tags with relevant keywords.
  • Create blog posts, guides, or videos that provide value to your audience while driving traffic to your site.

Use retargeting ads

Some might, but not every visitor will purchase their first visit. And retargeting ads help you to reach those who’ve shown interest in your products.

  • Use display ads featuring the products they viewed or added to their cart.
  • Offer a special discount to encourage them to return.
  • Retarget customers with complementary products or upgrades.

Start now and see the effects

Increasing ecommerce sales is something every ecommerce brand professional wants to do. It’s the main goal, and there isn’t a 100% working recipe. But, by making small, strategic changes like we mentioned, you can start seeing results quickly.

And if they don’t bring good ones, the key is to test and refine your strategies continuously. Keep an eye on what works and be ready to adapt as your business grows.
